A solution focused approach
The door to solution is opened by considering how you want your life to be different.
Scott d. miller
The solution-focused approach is oriented around the premise that the client is unique, not only as an individual autonomous being but also as a part of a wider societal group. Consequently, the client can and is the only person who can develop a personalised approach towards finding their own solutions. The coach's role in all this is to help facilitate this process by asking relevant questions to help the clients recognise instances in which their personal challenges are either less pronounced or not present at all.

Finding the "door to solution" begins with choice
- insoo kim berg
The solution-focused approach is based on a number of assumptions or some may call them truths.
These are:
-
No single approach works for everyone
-
There are many possible solutions
-
The solution and the problem are not necessarily related
-
People can and do make change quickly
-
Change is happening all the time
The secret of change is to focus all of your energy not on fighting the old, but on building the new.
